Welcome to 1st Killingworth Scout Group
We are an established Scout Group within Benton District with Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections, offering a full range of activities to our young people and adults alike.
Our Group is open to both boys and girls, of all abilities, aged 6 to 14, who live in the Killingworth and surrounding areas.
We meet at St Johns Church Hall, West Lane, Killingworth Village, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 0BL.
Meeting Times Are:
Beavers: Monday from 6:30 - 7:45 pm
Cubs: Thursday from 6:15 - 7:30 pm
Scouts: Thursday from 7:45 - 9:00 pm
We welcome new members in all of our sections and whilst we do not actively maintain a waiting list, if a section has it's full quota of young people for health and safety reasons, we may refer you to another Scout Group within the local area.
For those parents wishing their son / daughter to join the Scout Group, who have not yet reached their 6th birthday (Beaver age), we will retain your information until your son / daughter is old enough to join the section and will contact you again at that stage.
We also welcome help and support from parents, friends and families to help to develop the Scout Group.
We are currently looking for support from adults, for both the Cub and Scout sections or if you prefer to the administrative or social side of the Group, we would welcome parents to join our Group Executive and Fundraising activities.

Celebration of Scouting / Annual General Meeting
We would like to thank all the parents and friends who attended the Celebartion of Scouting at 1st Killingworth event and Annual General Meeting in June 2015. It was attended by well over 60 people and we hope the parents had great fun taking part in the Scouting challenges and the barbeque afterwards.
During the meeting, the following individuals were appointed to Group Executive Committee for the year 2015 / 16:
- Chairperson - Rev David Gray
- Treasurer - Maggie Cottier
- Secretary - Catherine Brennan
- Executive Member - Valerie Short
- Executive Member - Claire Wilson
- Sponsoring Authority (St John's Church) Representative - Wendy Earnshaw
It was also brilliant that so many parents offered to help out as either Occassional Helpers or on parent rotas to support the existing leaders, particularly in the Cub and Scout sections.
The minutes from the meeting will be available for all parents to view soon.

Gold Chief Scout's Award (the top award in the Scout section!)
- Thomas Bell, Jamie Sample and Carter Richards
Congratulations to Anne Sutherland and Louise O'Donnell on recently being awarded the 5 Years Service Award for their work with the Beaver Colony - many of the Beavers would only be learning to walk when both Anne and Louise first started helping out in Scouting.
Well Done to everyone !
The Scouts Learn More About Two Fat Ladies and Two Little Ducks!
Congratulations to the Scouts and Leaders, who hosted a friendly Bingo Night for friends and families on Friday 7th March at the Church Hall.
The event was organised by the Scouts themselves as part of their training programme, with the Scouts acting as Bingo Callers.
Thanks to everyone's efforts, around £120 was raised from the evening which will be put towards new camping equipment and it was nice to see so many parents and friends enjoying themselves on the night.
A big thank you to everyone who turned up on the evening!
